Cockroaches

yep yep we are in development of a new film already.
it's about cockroaches or Kakkerlakken,

that's how we Dutch people like to call them.
and its going to be awesomely cool!

the 3d machine

Yesterday we held a pre-screening for our financial sponsor(the Rotterdam filmfund) of our upcoming short film 'the 3d-Machine'.

We showed them the whole film which is not yet completed, but in a viewable state.
And we showed an already a short sequence in finished material in 3d!
The people were really enthousiastic about the film.
And thats great to hear since we've been workin for a little while now on this project.
Below you'll see some great images of the final film to be.

Target Audience Expansion

Hooraah!
today our target audience expanded!
I became uncle again, and this time my new nephew is called Daan.
I hereby promise that I will be a good uncle and so will watch a lot of cartoons with him and his older brother Tijs!

Dancing cat

This cool cat is concept art for a new show for kids. Yes, it's about dancing.

Bee Gees

everybody loves the Bee Gees, especially when they are sung by Jelle Gijsberts.
Jelle really makes something special out of it!
here is a real cool beegee from our film.
after jelle finished it we made it in 3D, for some eye poppin action!
jelle only has like 60 more to go and then he can rest a little.
o yeah check the main thing from our film too....our 3d-machine!!!!!

BALKANIMA

Yep!
tommorow we'll take a plane to Milan and then from there we'll fly to Belgrado in Serbia.
The European Animation Filmestival BALKANIMA will be held there.
Our film 'The Shoebox' will also be screened.
so we decided to go as well and pay the Serbs a visit.

Production update

Production seems to go pretty smooth on our short film: the 3d machine. Last weeks production meeting was very promising. Here's a list of the total crew:
Animator and director: Joost van den Bosch and Erik Verkerk
Producer: Marlou Rutten
Background artist: Jelle Gijsberts
Composer: Irene Vivanco
Foley artist: Jos van Galen
Coach: Raymond van der Kaaij

Animation seems to go a lot faster than expected, about a third is already done. In two weeks Jelle will start doing backgrounds, and around that time Irene will start work on the score.

Below's a gag we were thinking of puting in the film, but it didn't make it...

weirdo beardo

I took this picture of us to celebrate Eriks' beard!
He's been growing it for a while now.
And I still remember when he started off with a moustache.
Look at him now! all grown and fully bearded!

wow 3D

after trying different ways to achieve the 3d look on our film we finally found the best working one.
we are very happy with the result and can't wait to finish the film!

the Shoebox screenings

our film 'the Shoebox' is going to be screened in competition at the KLITFEST animation festival in Amsterdam this saturday (15th), it's an new animationfestival in the Netherlands and has a great program!
go and check it out!



also in the first week of october 'the Shoebox' will be screened in competition at the BALKANIMA festival in Belgrado, (Serbia).
woohoo! if you happen to be there check that one out too!

First animated shot

Yeah woohoo, the first shot animated!!! Only 124 to go. We animated this scene just to see it the flashkit works, well, yes it works. For this shot to be final it still needs a background, effect animation, 3d compositing and a stereo-anaglyphic render to make it pop out of your screen!

3d machine

All goes well with production on our new short film: the 3d Machine. First draft of the storyboard is finished. Now we're working on making flash-kits. Here's a first attempt.

Fanmail

Wow!!! Our studio is getting is getting fanmail! My good friend bassie is responsable for this wonderful piece of art. Thank you Bassie!!! Now if anyone would like to follow Bassie's example, that be awesome. All fanmail will be posted on the blog. I like vla!!!

Little update

Yeah yeah, I know. It's time for an update. But there's not so much to show. Joost is enjoying his holiday, and I'm just back from enjoying mine. Currently I'm storyboarding on our new short film the '3d machine'. All is going well, and when the storyboard becomes less rough, I'll be sure to post some images. Till then, just hang in there!

8BIT SKUNK

for probably our last job on skunk fu they asked us to do the whole package on a part of an episode.
so we designed, boarded an animated a section of one of the coolest skunk episodes.
we made the part where everything is in 8BIT-nintendo style.

3D-machine

we're almost starting to storyboard now.

SKUNK FU! Blasts Off on the BBC in July!

Finally! what started out as an internship, after that a partime freelance job and more later a full time job in Ireland is finally finishing up for the world to see it.
The first 26 episodes of Skunk Fu will be tx-ing weekdays at 3.45/3.50 from BBC week 28 (Monday 9th July 2007) on BBC1 and on Saturdays at 6pm on the CBBC Channel, from week 29 (Saturday 14th July 2007). It has already premiered on ABC Australia.

it was great fun to make this 35 seconds clip from start to end.
we're almost finished on it and hope it will serve it's purpose;
convince Jetix that they have to make the series!
